All correct, though you should leave it on PRI until it's running happily. The pri setting just bypasses the vacuum tap, so it acts like a normal fuel tap. As llong as the carbs don't flood you can ride around all day with it on PRI.

If you want it to fire up straight away without any churning over waiting for it to draw fuel up though the choke: turn the fuel on (to prime if using a vacuum fuel tap), wait for the carbs to fill up blow down two of the breather pipes until you hear bubbling (and not any longer) Start it up. It sh...

JIS and Phillips are different. I can't count the time a Phillips has tried to 'cam out' where a JIS screwdriver just undoes it. Yes a new phillips will do most screws but JIS won't cam out and you don't need to hit it with a hammer or undo it with a torque wrench either. Have a read of this http:/...

I did go down this route about 15 years ago as i rode an aussie registered gpz100 back to the uk and imported it. I still own it. If I remember rightly (i do have a shite memory tho) the import duty to the uk isn't very high, but the aussie export duty was about 100% or something outrageous, which m...

Probably loctite 243 and 222 threadlocker only. Loctite recommends 222 for m5 and under, 243 for over. In a factory that I'm familiar with they spec 222 for aluminium and helicoils and 243 for everything else, but i suspect that is erroneous. If you feel the need to loctite the very long m6 bolts th...

What the man says. Judging by the effect they have on my green lane drz it'll feel like the wheels are very very out of balance.

Bummer.

Is it worth buying a pattern one from z power and taking the guts out of it to rebuild the genuine tap? Are they similar enough to do this?

Thanks

Z1000a1 fuel tap

Morning all, The fuel tap on my a1 (twin outlet manual type) dribbles fuel out of the pipe outlets when turned off. It doesn't leak externally. I reckon it must need a new rubber sleeve thingy (the one with holes in). A brief look has found the o ring kits, but not this bit. Anywhere i can get them ...

Id have thought starting and idling it once a week is only really going to add wear. Ive just put a (more modern) bike back on the road after years lay up. I drained the tank, ran it until it till it wouldn't run, even with the choke on,took the battery out and forgot to charge it for six months so ...

Hi, Yes, in my expirence it is well worth doing and gives quite a good improvement in braking for not too much outlay. Looks quite 'factory' too. As you will have deduced from that thread you will need to make up and weld on 10 mm spacers, and if you are mixing and matching bits the fork leg hole po...

Cheers Olly! I will look forward to hearing about your jet setup in the near future. :D Hi, the setup I've got on mine has been there for quite a long time - I've got some interesting history with this bike as I originally bought it in Sydney and rode it most of the way home in 2001. When I bought ...

Hello and welcome from a fellow newbie with a GPZ1100B1 ! Mine is also "quite a project" - it already has had the Fuel Injection removed and carbs supplied - but not attached! Mr Bump, I would be very interested in your carb setup for the GPZ1100 with air box. I do not want to go down aft...

Hello mister, Where are you based? Im in East Devon. Ive owned a gpz1100b2 for years, for which ive slowly developed a few modifications. Brilliant bikes when sorted. Also have a z1000a1 and have owned various air cooled gpz's over the years. If you do deviate from original and put carbs on it ive a...
