Big vote for Leighton's - they stripped, blasted repaired and powder coated the base of my XS850, repaired the foam, recovered it and sent it back for about £140 - Great job.

Hi there - not sure if you are sorted yet but I have a GPZ500 that seems to be sound but neglected - probably doesn't need a full rebuild just some tidying, carb clean, caliper strip, oil and fluid change etc. Bit too much on my plate at the moment to get to it, could be a pretty bike low miles and ...

Cheers Dave - there is a guy just down the road from me that has powder coated a couple of frames for me including the XS. I think he's pretty reasonable £100 to blast clean and powder coat frame, swing arm and stands etc. Always inside of a week, never had any complaints. I've got the frame ready ...

may be worth putting individual questions up with a title that gives an indication as to what the query is Cheers Mick - I didn't realise quite how busy this forum is, I didn't want to flood the place with loads of daft questions right from the start. Blue is the colour..... That is stunning - I wa...

Thanks Garry - I have a really good spray guy who has his own mixing plant - he did a great job on my XS850 and is more than happy to use my bike bits as 'fill ins' between bigger jobs. I'm not going to go 'obsessive' on it just period - I think.

Excellent - well between DVLA, Kawasaki and the previous owner (the one that had it sprayed) it appears that it's originally a UK bike, not an import, and it was the Kawasaki Diamond Blue, which I have to say was my favourite. Is there a paint mix code for this or is it just a case of matching? Sorr...

Thats nothing like the colour of the tank and panels that I have. I thought that they had been sprayed that just confirms it. Had another look tonight it's got a round master cylinder as well so it's looking more likely to be an A1. Looking forward to this. Quick question are the engine cases painte...

Thanks Mick - I will check the z power site out - I'm a bit green with Kawasaki part referencing and supply - daft question if it's a ...

Thats a good looking bike, my current plan is to keep it as standard as is practical without being too anal about it. Just be good to bring it back from the dead.

New Project Help Needed

Hi all - did a little deal today and ended up with a 1978 Z1000 in bits. I first saw the bike complete about 12 years ago and it was a mess then - It's now in my garage in bits and will probably be my next build. Before I get stuck in I could do with some pointers. First things first - what is the c...
