good point, bunny.. I'm not such a rivet-counter that swapping to Allen heads would give me sleepless nights  - far better the bike runs sweetly, and I can attend to those little things that always need doing, with the minimum of fuss. think I'll look for a replacement carb bowls Allen screw se...

got the little ratchet set today - worked a treat. One loose screw, gave it a tweak, seems to have worked. Good point about the float heights, and I will get round to checking them. Had the fuel pipes off today - noticed that there's a weep from the fuel tap when switched to 'OFF' - looks like the t...

900A4 carb bowls removal

hi all, I'm blessed (!) with small hands/fingers. My 900A4 could do with the float bowl gaskets on cyls 1 and 2 being replaced (persistent fuel weep despite attempts to check tightness of screws with a 90deg angled screwdriver - not a brilliant fit). Is it possible to do this with the carbs in-situ?...

"ACF50 is not good on air cooled engines I've found. It turns into a brownish varnish when the engine gets hot." good point - I found the same thing. Nearly shat myself first time I saw it - thought something was well and truly gunged-up somewhere and was now finding its own way out! :roll...

Last winter, I kept my 900 tucked away in the garage unless the weather/road conditions allowed a 20-mile+ trip out. Whilst it was under wraps, I ran it up to warm temp at least once a week, used only super unleaded in the (kept full to the brim) tank, added stabil and redex to the fuel, used a regu...

Expect you saw her tootling around the field on that CB200 then? :) Were you manning a stall? - I did see one that looked to have a few Emgo/Doremi (?)replacement handlebar switch assemblies for the UK 900A4, but didn't spot anything else that was Z-orientated (mind you, my eyesight isn't as good as...

.. and very smart it was too! I had a quick chat to a nice couple parked up next to yours (on a Tiger 900xc, IIRC) who had made the trip from the IoW, and we had a good old parley about 900s, CB200s (the lady bought the red one on offer at the jumble!) and all things bike related. In the few minutes...

went to the autojumble today. bagged a couple of bits, so worth the trip. saw a nice shiny P-reg 900A4, single disc, 4-1, parked just outside the entrance. Was getting a lot of attention from the punters as they went in/out . Even after 40 years, they still draw a crowd :)

thanks for all the info, guys - I'm currently reading-up and preparing a parts list for a sump off, oil pump screen clear and poss oil pump out for inspection job. Spent too long waiting for this bike to come along to let it self-destruct for want of a bit of extra TLC. :)

Bl**dy hell - I hope mine doesn't look like that! The new oil pressure switch does have the little hole in it, as did the one that was replaced. Sight glass checked, and oil level looks ok. Checked the workshop manual and made sure I put the recommended amount in, especially as I changed the...
